Budgeting that takes seconds, not Sundays
Envelope budgeting is the old cash-in-envelopes method, made digital: split your monthly spending into categories, and spend from each one until it's empty.

Set one number
Enter what you spend in a month and pick the categories that fit. Burdie splits it into envelopes in round numbers.

Log what you spend
Tap +, type the amount, pick the envelope. It even shows what will be left before you save.

Always know what's left
One glance shows what's spent, what remains, and whether you're on pace for the month.
See trouble coming before it arrives
Every envelope gets a bar with a small marker showing where you should be today. Ahead of the marker? Ease off. Behind it? You've got room.
- Total left to spend, front and center
- Over budget? The envelope turns red and says by how much
- Your five most recent expenses right on the dashboard

Where did the grocery money go?
Tap any envelope to see its full history for the month, with notes and dates. Step back through past months to see how your spending has changed.
- Optional notes on every expense
- Back-date anything you forgot to log
- Long-press to delete a mistake

Budget by the month, or by payday
Most budget apps assume your month starts on the 1st. Yours might not. Close your budget cycle on payday, or on any day of the month, and Burdie keeps every cycle lined up.

Your categories, your colors
Add as many envelopes as you need. Rename, retarget, recolor, and pick any emoji as the icon, with a live preview as you edit.

Small app. Thoughtful details.
No decimal fumbling
Type 2-5-0-0 and you get $25.00. A big keypad, and no keyboard covering the screen.
Preview before you save
"$205.90 left in Groceries after this" shows up as you type.
Look back anytime
Flip through past cycles to see where the money went.
Smart starting budget
Your first budget is split sensibly across the categories you pick, so you're not starting from a blank page.

Questions
How much does it cost?
$3.99, once. That's it. No subscription, no in-app purchases, no ads, and no "premium" tier holding features back. Every future update is included.
Why isn't it free?
Because "free" apps get paid somehow, usually with ads or by selling your data. Burdie Budget is paid for by you, one time, so it works for you. There's nothing to sell and no one to show ads to, which is why it can keep your budget completely private.
Why not a subscription like other budget apps?
A budgeting app shouldn't become another monthly bill to budget for. Many budgeting apps charge more every month than Burdie Budget costs, ever. Pay once and it's yours.
Does it connect to my bank?
No, on purpose. You log each spend yourself, which takes a couple of seconds. That small moment of noticing what you spent is what makes envelope budgeting work. And because nothing connects to your accounts, there's nothing to leak.
What is envelope budgeting?
It's the classic method of putting cash into labeled envelopes (groceries, gas, eating out) and spending only what's in each one. Burdie Budget does the same thing digitally: each category gets an amount for the month, and you can see what's left in each at a glance.
My budget doesn't start on the 1st. Will it work for me?
Yes. Your budget cycle can close on any day of the month, such as the day before payday. Calendar months are the default.
What happens if I get a new phone?
Open Settings in the app and choose Back up to a file, save it somewhere like Google Drive, then pick Restore backup on your new phone. Everything comes with you.
Can two people share one budget?
Not yet. Each phone keeps its own budget, and there's no syncing between devices, which is part of what keeps your data private.
Is there an iPhone version?
Burdie Budget is Android-only for now (Android 8.0 and newer).
